Day 1: Arriving to Aysén

Balmaceda airport to Mallin Colorado ecolodge

Reception at Balmaceda airport and transfer for 5 hours to Malli Colorado Ecolodge. It is a 220-kilometer journey, where you will see valleys, rivers, evergreen forests, and snow-capped peaks. Later we will travel along a narrower gravel road, surrounded by wild vegetation until we reach General Carrera lake, the largest in Chile and which stands out for its intense calypso color. Dinner and overnight at Mallin Colorado Ecolodge.

Day 2: Kayak & rafting

Marble Caves and Baker River

This will be a great day of adventures. After breakfast, you will begin a one-hour drive north to visit the famous rock formations on the shores of General Carrera Lake. They are the world-famous Marble Caverns and Cathedral. You will visit the peninsula on a 3-to-4-hour kayak expedition, and you will have the opportunity to take photos even inside the caves. After visiting this unique place, and having lunch in Mallin Colorado, you will go further south along Carretera Austral to the shores of Lake Bertrand to start the rafting adventure. This is a soft activity in a stunning landscape. Then, you will return to the ecolodge for dinner and accommodation.

Day 3: S. Rafael Glacier

Navigation to San Rafael Glacier

Early departure from Puerto Tranquilo to Bahía Exploradores (1.5 hours) to board a cruise to the San Rafael Glacier. Full-day navigation with breakfast, lunch and coffee included, sailing through the Chilean fjords, and arriving at San Rafael Lagoon at noon. Possibility of getting closer to the icebergs and appreciating them for approximately one hour. The boat then returns to Bahía Exploradores around 5 PM and then we have to drive approximately 3 hours back to Mallin Colorado Ecolodge. Accommodation and dinner in Mallin Colorado.

Day 4: Relax Morning

Enjoy the views of Mallin Colorado

This is a nice day. After a complete breakfast, you just can rest around the ecolodge or take your free time to enjoy several hiking routes in Mallin Colorado, that are surrounded by a beautiful Coigue and Lenga forest, with extraordinary views of Lake General Carrera. There is also the possibility of shorter trails and a 30-minute walk option to the beach. Enjoy your last lunch in the terrace of Mallin Colorado before your Explora transfer picks you up around 3 pm.

Day 5: Exploration day 1

Discovering Patagonia National Park from Explora hotel

After breakfast, you will start the hike you decided on the night before, in the company of other guests in the hotel. Lunch will be served in a selected place, with astonishing landscapes around. The landscape of Patagonia National Park is mainly dry steppe, lower mountains, and very open wide spaces. Full of free guanacos wandering around, it may also be possible to see the condor flying above you, among other birds and mammals. 

Day 6: Exploration day 2

You can choose among different explorations to get to know this territory doing hiking, overland van crossings, biking, self-guided tours, kayaking, high mountain outings and combinations, with difficulty levels ranging from basic to advanced. The landscapes you will see while exploring this territory can leave you speechless and include thick forests, glaciers, canals, the Andes Mountains, spectacular turquoise-colored rivers and lakes, among others, in an unspoiled, lightly explored natural environment, that opens itself up to you.

Day 7: Leaving Aysén

From Explora hotel to Balmaceda airport

Today it is a long drive to get out from this remote area of Patagonia. Your transfer will bring you to Balmaceda airport in 7 hours. On the way, you will appreciate incredible valleys, forests and rivers of this untouched huge region. Finally you will cross Cerro Castillo National park before reaching Balmaceda, on time for your flight.
