The variety of landscapes you can find driving southern of Balmaceda airport, along Carretera Austral, in Chilean Patagonia, is one of the most interesting surprises that await for you during your stay in Aysen. Visiting the marble caves, getting close to the ice walls of a glacier, crossing in a ferry boat the most blue and endless lake in Patagonia will completely disconnect you from your city life and bring you to a remote place. During this Circuit around the lake General Carrera, surrounded by the huge Northern Ice Fields you will be part of the most beautiful landscapes in Patagonia. A short and intense trip to Aysen´s most beautiful corner driving around lake General Carrera.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Balmaceda – Coyhaique

Reception at Balmaceda airport and drive during 1 hour to the main town of the region,

Coyhaique. Free time to city tour and lunch on your own. Accommodation in Coyhaique and dinner on your own.

Day 2: Coyhaique – marble caves – Puerto Tranquilo

After breakfast, you will start a long drive for about 4 hours (120 miles) to the south of the region, along the extremely scenic Carretera Austral road. Crossing river Ibañez valley, Cerro Castillo peaks and Cofré humid forests, you will drive long hours in the most remote areas of Aysen region. Arriving in Puerto Tranquilo, you will take an excursion by boat to the Marble Caves in a hidden spot near Puerto Tranquilo. Accommodation in town. Dinner on your own.

Day 37: Full Day Navigation San Rafael glacier

Early departure from Puerto Tranquilo to Bahía Exploradores (1,5 hours) to get onboard your cruise to San Rafael glacier. Full day navigation with breakfast, lunch and coffee for free all the time included, navigating the Chilean fjords and arriving by midday to San Rafael Lagoon. Possibility to get close to the icebergs and appreciate them for around one hour. The boat is back to Bahía Exploradores around 5 PM and then you drive 2 hours aprox to Mallin Colorado Ecolodge. Accommodation and dinner in Mallin Colorado.

Day 4: Free day to enjoy Mallin Colorado trails

After a good breakfast you will have a free day to enjoy several hiking trails in Mallin Colorado property. Surrounded by a beautiful Coigue and Lenga forest, with extraordinary views over lake General Carrera, you can get to a very high place with views to Cordón Contreras, to lake Bertrand and an ample views of lake General Carrera. There is also a possibility of shorter trails and a 30 min. trail to the beach. Accommodation and dinner in Mallin Colorado Ecolodge.

Day 5: Mallin Colorado – Chile Chico (Ferry to Coyhaique)

Breakfast and full day excursion to Chile Chico, driving along the cliff shore of lake General Carrera, the most beautiful road in Chile. (If this day there is a Ferry boat to Puerto Ibáñez Ibañez, the tour continues to Coyhaique this same day). If not, you stay one night in Chile Chico and cross the lake

on the next morning.

Day 6: Chile Chico (Ferry to Puerto Ibañez) - Balmaceda airport

After breakfast, and depending on your flight time, (you take the ferry boat across lake General

Carrera) and you drive to Balmaceda airport to connect with your flight.
